My jaw dropped when Roope Salminen opened his mouth – 2024-10-06 04:09:39

Roope Salminen has been the most talked about name in the last couple of weeks. After Salminen’s episode was shown on Friday last week Just life – program, his name has been buzzing in the headlines and discussion forums.

The comeback seems to have been successful.

Even last week, the first thing that came to mind about Roope Salmi was his sex crime conviction. This is what he stated himself when the case was discussed on Salminen’s day Just life in the program.

The sentence handed down in 2020 was for forcing a sexual act. Salminen was sentenced to a 70-day fine for the crime, for which 2,380 euros accrued from his income. In addition, he was ordered to pay the victim 1,000 euros for suffering.

When Salminen speaks about it publicly, his words are as if straight from the pen of a PR professional. Thoughtful and sensitive speeches repeat the same things. Salminen is not the victim or sufferer of the incident. Salminen has applied for therapy because of this. Salminen has learned more about consent, understands victims of sexual crimes and so on.

Finns will also surely sink in with the story presented during the speeches about how the matter served as a stepping stone for Salminen saving himself from the bottom of the bottle.

Amidst the beautiful and clever-sounding sentences, it can be difficult to distinguish a subtle echo of the past.

Has Salminen really learned anything?

First of all, I couldn’t help but notice that Just life – program was opened in a strange way about Salminen’s fine.

– I was fined in 2015 for the things I did, was the first sentence of the monologue.

– I stopped drinking because of that process and I went to myself because of that process. I started looking into what was wrong with me. I will carry with me for the rest of my life the choices I made ten years ago and what consequences that may have for another person, continued the monologue that started the table discussion.

Fines were also mentioned after the episode Satulinna sequels and Sami Kuronen on the podcast.

– I was hoping that the conversation would open up more to the fact that such an act, for which I was fined, should be taken seriously, Roope justified his decision to speak about the matter publicly.

Salminen’s Instagram account was deleted in the spring. According to the app’s unambiguous rules, sex offenders are not allowed to use the app. Ilta-Sanomat interviewed Salmin about Instagram’s decision, and even then Salminen decided to strangely refer to fines in his answer.

– Whether the suspension requests were made in good faith or not, I believe that my fine from 2015 will be used as a basis, Salminen replied to Ilta-Sanom.

Why does Salminen now emphasize the fine when talking about the subject? You can also be fined for fishing without a permit, and you can also be fined for speeding. If the punishment had been harsher, would it have been raised in the same way?

When Salminen explained the course of events of the fateful nap in the program, another attention-grabbing phrase emerged.

It shows that Salminen probably still won’t admit to having committed the crime himself, i.e. stripping a defenseless interested party.

He treated the matter as an “interpretation of the district court”.

– That sentence came from the fact that I myself, while naked, depending on the interpretation of the district court, either ordered to undress or helped to undress or undressed a person who was too drunk to be able to take a stand, Salminen told the participants in Satulinna.

Do you still remember that Salminen changed his version of events in his time? He did not remember during police interviews whether he had undressed himself or had taken off the victim’s top and underpants to “spoon”.

Then the memory was refreshed when the charge came up. He commented that he is absolutely innocent and denied his guilt in court as well.

However, the court did not believe Salminen’s words. According to the district court, it was not likely that the concerned owner would have been able to undress himself due to his state of intoxication and sleep. The district court considered that Salminen had to undress the interested party or help him to take off his underpants and overpants. At the end of the evidence and the year-long legal process, the court considered that Salminen had violated the victim’s right to sexual self-determination.

The district court found Salminen guilty.

– I have not committed the crime for which the sentence has been given, but there is no justification for how I have caused another person to feel with my actions, Salminen said after the sentence on Instagram in September 2020.

– There is no way that I wouldn’t remember such a thing (undressing). I have been present in this room five years ago, Salminen’s assurances continued to Susanne Päivärinna in Iltalehti Uncensored Päiväbrinta program in October 2020.

Salminen may disagree and consider the issue unclear, even until the end of the world, but is there really still a place for reassurance Just life in the program?

Salmi was offered the opportunity to appeal his sentence to the Court of Appeal, but he himself decided not to do so. The District Court did not believe Salmi, so he has apparently decided to leave the evaluation and decision-making to the Finns.

In court, the victim has responded to Salminen’s defense speeches, but understandably he has not done so in public.

Since Salminen has declared himself to be so understanding when it comes to the victim’s feelings, he could already understand to stop.
