My health space: how does it work?

Who doesn’t have prescriptions in a filing cabinet, reports left in the imaging centre? It is to put an end to this incoherent situation that the State has created Mon Espace Santé (monespacesante.fr). The objective of this online public service: to allow citizens to store and share their health information as they wish, and this, in complete security. This site is managed by the National Health Insurance Fund.

Like a digital health record

Everyone will receive an activation email. If no action is taken, Mon Espace Santé will be automatically activated six weeks later. But it is possible to oppose it (on the site or by calling 3422) and even to reconsider this decision. A parent can access their child’s profile until they reach majority. A person unable to complete his profile may appoint a professional as administrator. As on his paper health record, we fill in his “medical profile”. There, no complicated nomenclature. You write yourself with your own words your current treatments, your illnesses, your operations… With a simple drag and drop in the “documents” area, you can store your x-rays, prescriptions and other results. And if you have them in paper version, you just have to photograph them with your laptop to transfer them to digital format.

Our medical information within reach of caregivers

On monespacesante.fr, you can also specify whether you want to appoint a trusted person or a loved one to contact in the event of an emergency. We include their habits (smoker, athlete, etc.), their height, their weight and the names of the health professionals who follow us. In addition, it is possible to store administrative documents such as your blood group or health insurance card. This data is made available to the attending physician in a secure manner. He alone has official access to all the information. In the general settings, everyone decides whether or not they authorize other health professionals or the emergency services to consult their space. When integrating a document, you have the choice of leaving it visible to all caregivers or only to yourself and the professional who submitted it.

Up-to-date data

In the next eighteen months, all health professionals will be required to place all the documents concerning their patients there: prescriptions, screening results, etc. But, for the time being, their software is not all ready: the update will begin for general practitioners, radiologists, biologists, pharmacists and medico-social establishments. For its part, the National Health Insurance Fund will inject into Mon Espace Santé our history of reimbursed services (consultations, medication, care, etc.).

Secure exchanges

No more medical emails sent from a personal address that does not meet health safety standards. From now on, each French person has a secure address. In My Health Space, everyone can communicate with all their doctors, pharmacists and others without risking information piracy. Only one condition: it is always the doctor who initiates any conversation. And soon, a diary will make it possible to manage appointments and receive reminders for key dates: screenings, vaccines, etc.

Thanks to Dominique Pon, in charge of a ministerial mission in the service of digital health.

Some of us had opened their shared medical record (DMP) online. It is no longer available. All his data is now transferred to My Health Space.
