Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated that his ultimate goal is to lead the USA to success at the 2026 World Cup.
As a reminder, the Argentine tactician was named coach of the USA earlier this month.
In a chat with Soccer Podcast, Pochettino explained that he can have a positive influence with the quality of players at his disposal.
“The big goal is the home World Cup in summer 2026. Then we will have time to prepare for the World Cup,” added Pochettino.

“I think it’s really positive (the presentation), it was so nice. I feel very welcome.”
“Yeah, I think (the press conference) was totally different from my last jobs.
“It’s like the first day of school. Because we’ve never worked with a national team before… I think that’s going to be the hardest part… You accept that you’re going to be with the players for a few days and then (drying his hands).”
“From a tactical point of view, it will be a challenge because we will have to adapt and be flexible with the qualities we have. We will be the protagonists and if we don’t have the ball, we will exert a lot of pressure. And we will have to make an effort.”
