My father is an airplane opens Nederlands Film Festival | NOW

The Netherlands Film Festival (NFF) of 2021 opens with the film My father is an airplane by director Antoinette Beumer. The 41st edition of the festival starts on September 24, the NFF announced.

Author and director Beumer, who previously made films like Loft, Soof on The happy housewife filmed the novel of the same name with which she made her debut in 2018. My father is an airplane is about a woman who starts a poignant search for her past and seeks contact with her father, who has been in a psychiatric institution for more than thirty years.

The leading roles are played by Elise Schaap, Pierre Bokma, Maarten Heijmans and Stefan Rokebrand. They will all be present at the world premiere in Utrecht.

Just like last year, the NFF will take place in a hybrid ‘corona form’. Film premieres take place on location; in addition, the public can attend online film screenings and programs. The festival lasts from September 24 to October 2. Ticket sales will start this summer.

My father is an airplane will in principle be released in Dutch cinemas on September 30; distributor September Film releases the opening film.
