Only two more days until the gates of the Stadthalle in Falkensee near Berlin open again for a boxing world championship next Saturday, October 19th! The event, which is organized in cooperation with AGON Sports and Kuc Boxing, has a lot to offer: a total of nine fights are on the program, BILDplus will go live on air from 9 p.m. and stream the fights from Falkensee. Mark Bergmann, one of Germany’s martial arts voices, comments on the event. The undercard will be shown on AGON’s own YouTube channel.

AGON boxer Scull before the World Championship fight against Shishkin about his promoter: “Ingo kept all his promises”

Who will be Canelo’s successor? The two protagonists of the evening want to clarify these questions. AGON’s William Scull has been mandatory challenger for the IBF super middleweight world title for more than two years. After Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez gave up the belt, “El Indomable” finally gets his chance! With the powerful Russian Vladimir Shishkin, who has been based in Florida in the US for many years, he has the most difficult task of his career in front of him!

“It’s a dream come true to finally be able to box for a professional world championship after so many years of waiting,” said William Scull in advance. The wait for this opportunity, which lasted more than two years, was difficult for the AGON man, whose life was changed by boxing. After he defeated Evgeny Shvedenko in July 2022 and became mandatory challenger, he had to be patient for a long time. “It was a difficult time in my career because I didn’t know what would happen next. In reality, I was looking forward to facing super champion Canelo Alvarez, but I always stayed focused and knew something good would happen.”

His thanks go above all to his German promoter Ingo Volckmann, who once gave him the chance and promised him that he would lead him to the world title: “Everything Ingo promised me, he kept: world title eliminator, world championship Title. He kept his promises when he told me about his plans. I’m very happy about it. It would also be a great success for him if we win this World Cup. Ever since I was little, my goal has been to become world champion and make history!”

What gives “El Indomable” strength is his family: “I am always in contact with them. It’s difficult for me to stay without her for so long. My goal one day is to bring her to Europe with me and we can all live together here. Being with my family is the most important thing for me. If I can bring them here with me, especially my mother, then that would be something very wonderful for me.”

He has been working with his trainer Franquis Aldama for more than 12 years now: “We know each other from our time together in Cuba. He coached the young people at the school I also attended. We then lived together in Argentina for five years before we came to Germany. Franquis is a unique coach, you cannot compare him with others. He has his own style and his own methods. He grows beyond himself with every fight and every challenge.”

Promoter Ingo Volckmann says about his protégé: “William is very hard-working. He is always training, lives and eats healthily, and doesn’t celebrate much, even if that’s part of life. He always looks great physically and is working towards his dream. He absolutely deserves to become world champion on Saturday!”

William Scull: “Focused and ready to go 12 rounds!”

Now it’s up to William Scull! About his upcoming task he says: “We will do our job. We had very good preparation: our fitness was right, physically, mentally, technically and tactically we were in an excellent position. I’m very focused and ready to go 12 rounds and put on a great fight!”

Last tickets for the mega boxing event with the IBF World Championship between William Scull and Vladimir Shishkin are still available at www.eventim.de and at the box office on the day of the fight.
