The cancer diagnosis came as a surprise to the actress.
The sitcom “My Fair Nanny” was one of the most popular series of the mid-2000s in Russia. Her main role glorified actress Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, and also brought her an affair with a partner on the set, Sergei Zhigunov. But few viewers know that the series is nothing more than an adaptation of an American project called The Nanny, which was released in the United States in the 90s. And it turned out that the fates of the two central actresses are terribly similar.
The lead actress of The Nanny, actress Fran Drescher, also became the showrunner of the project. Most of the storylines were taken from a woman’s life. When the broadcast of the series was already over, Drescher learned the terrible news. In 2000, doctors diagnosed her with cancer. Uterine cancer was detected at an early stage, so Fran had a good chance of recovery. She underwent surgery, after which the disease went into remission. She wrote a book about her victory over cancer and founded a charity to diagnose the disease in women.
