My Corona break: Brakeler Torben Vogt has been playing for the Red-Blacks for 20 years: Training during the lunch break – Brakel

He doesn’t even come from a soccer family. “My uncle played, otherwise nobody in our group had anything to do with football,” says the 24-year-old. But that should change: through kindergarten friends, Torben Vogt once came to the minikickers of the Spvg Brakel – and has remained loyal to the Red-Blacks to this day. “Football has been my biggest hobby for 20 years,” emphasizes the Nethestädter, who is one of the leading players in the national league team and is their deputy captain.

As early as his last year of youth he was allowed to help out with the seniors, then quickly gained a foothold in the first team and celebrated two district league championships and promotion to the state league twice in a row. “We were promoted to the national league for the first time in the last A-youth year 2015”, says Torben Vogt and above all emphasizes the “great community” in the championship squad. “11 friends – that’s really the best. We got along really well off the pitch, ”he remembers the championship year with coach Andreas Struck. A year later there was another promotion to the regional league to celebrate, this time with the first team and coach Burkhard Sturm. And finally Torben Vogt was allowed to actually play in the national league himself. “We were often at the top in our youth, but we only managed to get promoted in my last year of youth,” reports the midfielder, who often helped out in central defense and performed there.

“I’ve never gone for a walk as much as in the Corona period,” says Torben Vogt. The dog Maggie is often there too.

“I would rather play in midfield,” says Vogt – and would be happy to be able to go back to the football field at all. His team started individual training in January. Coach Haydar Özdemir was responsible for the endurance and coordination tasks. In the meantime, it’s about speed strength with intervals. “I usually do this during my lunch break,” says the budding physiotherapist, who uses the break in homeschooling to clear his head outside. The team meets for an online conference every two weeks. “It’s an easy round. We are just happy that we can talk to each other again and exchange ideas. You usually see each other three times a week for training and on weekends for the game. Our last game was at the end of October. That is quite unusual, ”emphasizes Torben Vogt. He hopes to be able to start team training again as soon as possible. “I would also like to just meet friends again, go out to eat or go to the stadium,” reports the 24-year-old. As a Schalke fan, he shouldn’t have much reason to be happy at the moment.

However, he has a lot of fun working with youth footballers. “Seven or eight times” he was already part of the coaching team for the football vacation leisure time of the Höxter sports district. “In 2020 the free time was unfortunately canceled. Otherwise it has become a fixed date for me, ”says Torben Vogt and hopes to be firmly planned for Sunday afternoon in the foreseeable future: In the national league team of Spvg 20 Brakel.

Briefly asked

Running or strength training: I really enjoy running in the game. But that’s not my thing without a ball. I clearly favor strength training.

Delivery service or cook yourself: Delivery service. I really like to eat pizza. When I cook myself, I tend to do simple things like pasta or rice.

Playstation or Netflix: I like to watch series on Netflix. From time to time I also play on the Playstation, but I don’t have my own console.

Podcast or book: Podcast. For example, I like “Mixed Hack” by Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt or “Einfach mal luppen” by Toni and Felix Kroos.

Radio or Spotify: Definitely Spotify. I’m also responsible for the music in the cabin and play a colorful mix and house there. That goes down very well with most of them. I myself prefer German and American rap.

Favorite website: Youtube. I have quite a few favorites in the areas of fashion and lifestyle, but I also watch music videos.

Athlete biography:I’ve already read a few. I particularly liked Mesut Özil’s. I find his rise from a humble background to world champion and Real Madrid fascinating.

Crown-Ritual:I don’t have such a proper ritual. It is the case, however, that things like shopping that you would otherwise have done on the side suddenly structure the day.
