“I like to score and when I don’t, it’s annoying,” said the striker. “It doesn’t matter how many I miss, I keep trying. I want to thank the coach for his confidence and I will continue to help the team as best I can. When I scored the first goal, something fell off my shoulders, for sure.”
Together with Mika Godts, a special ‘celebration’ was done after one of the goals. “That’s my brother, I love him”, he says laughing. “He’s a great player and a great boy. The celebration was because I call him the ‘Breadman’. He eats seven sandwiches a day. He’s got a great future ahead of him.”

“We wanted to take revenge in this match,” Akpom refers to the loss in Breda. “Hopefully we can keep winning. We are one step closer to the Europa League and let’s decide on Thursday and take that into the competition.”
