With the HALCON 24.11 release, MVTec continues to rely on pioneering deep learning technologies in industrial image processing. Users can also look forward to the first preview of the new intuitive development environment HDevelopEVO.
On November 20, 2024, MVTec Software GmbH will bring the new version 24.11 of the machine vision standard software HALCON onto the market. Users can look forward to groundbreaking technologies and improvements. The focus is on even better deep learning algorithms.
Users can easily detect unexpected behavior caused by misclassifications in production with Out of Distribution Detection (OOD). In this way, countermeasures such as a machine stop can be initiated in a targeted and efficient manner. OOD indicates to users when an object is classified that was not included in the training data.
The performance of the QR Code Reader has been significantly increased. This becomes particularly clear under difficult conditions, for example when many codes have to be found in the image area or when many textures in the image make detection difficult.
The shape-based matching technology will also become even more user-friendly and therefore accessible to users without in-depth image processing expertise. This technology is used to detect objects quickly, accurately and precisely. HALCON 24.11 contains the new patent-pending “Extended Parameter Estimation”. This allows parameters to be estimated more granularly, which significantly speeds up execution in some applications.
HALCON 24.11 has a special preview available for all users of HALCON’s own development environment (IDE) HDevelop: a preview of the new IDE HDevelopEVO. This is characterized, among other things, by a more modern, intuitive user interface and an improved editor. The latter enables faster and more efficient programming or prototyping of machine vision applications. Users can use the new development environment in HALCON 24.11. already tested extensively. The range of functions of HDevelopEVO will be continually expanded in the coming releases and it will gradually become HALCON’s standard development environment.
The licensing model for the HALCON software editions is also being improved: users of the HALCON Progress Edition can now work on HALCON Steady projects without restrictions. The editions are compatible with each other from HALCON 24.11.
