On January 7 Beijing time, the NBA officially announced the latest MVP roster. In this issue of the list, Jokic and Tatum continue to place in the top two and Durant has moved up to third place.
1. Nikola Jokic (Nuggets, #1 last week)
Season averages: 25.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 9.5 assists
The Nuggets have won 8 of their last 10 games, while simultaneously on a 9-game winning streak at home. So far this season, Jokic has hit a league-high 9 triple-doubles, including 5 in December. Jokic, on the other hand, has shot better than 50% in 29 consecutive games. So the biggest suspense is: Can Jokic get three consecutive regular season MVPs?
2. Jason Tatum (Celtics, #2 last week)
Season averages: 30.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists
Against the Mavericks on Friday, Tatum had his second career triple-double (29 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists). For Tatum, what’s most needed is to improve his shooting percentage. Fortunately, the Green Army performed well on both offense and defense, limiting the Mavericks to only 35% of their shooting from the field and 22% of their three-point shooting.
3. Kevin Durant (Nets, #4 last week)
Season averages: 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists
Forget about off-season commercial requests. As a 12-time All-Star, Durant shot 60.1% from the field, 39.4% from three-point range and 95.5% from the free throw line in his last 20 games. At the same time, KD posted a total of 55 blocked shots, ranking him 8th in the league. So far this season, KD has scored at least 25 points in 25 games shooting over 50% from the field, ranking first in the league.
4. Luka Doncic (Mavericks, third last week)
Season averages: 34.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists
5. Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks, 5th last week)
Season averages: 32.7 points, 12.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists
6th place is Joel Embiid (76ers), Ja Morant (Grizzlies) and Donovan Mitchell (Cavaliers) tied for 7th, ranked 9-15 on list Players in position are: Jaylen Brown (Celtics), Zion Williamson (Pelicans), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder), James Harden (76ers) Team), LeBron James (Lakers), Julius Randle (Knicks) and Domantas Sabonis (Kings).
