Muscat: The Muscat-Abu Dhabi bus service of Muwassalat, the national transport company of Oman, is becoming popular. Within two months, 7000 people traveled by bus on the Muscat-Abu Dhabi route.
Officials informed that this is the figure from October 1 to November 30 when the Muscat-Abu Dhabi bus service resumed. Out of this, 5000 people traveled in November. Muwassalat has stopped bus services to UAE due to Covid. This was resumed in October.
However, the service to Dubai has not yet started. The routes are set to reach Abu Dhabi via Muscat-Buraimi-Al Ain. One way ticket price is 11.5 riyals. Passengers will be allowed 23 kg baggage and 7 kg hand baggage.
The Muwassalat bus service from Muscat to UAE started getting crowded when the law came into force that those arriving in Oman on a visit visa should leave the country if they want to change to a work visa. At present, although a private bus company is running services to the UAE, the reason for the increased traffic in Muwasalat is that its passengers cannot change their visas.
