Today, Saturday, Israeli warplanes attacked Hezbollah border positions, as sirens continued to sound in northern Israel following the firing of shells from Lebanese territory.
An Israeli raid also targeted an aluminum factory in southern Lebanon, located about 15 kilometers from the border, according to the official National News Agency, in a rare strike deep into Lebanese territory since the start of the escalation between the two parties last October.
The agency said, “The Israeli enemy targeted at dawn today deep within the Nabatieh area for the first time since the July 2006 war,” with two missiles fired by a drone toward an aluminum factory, which led to its complete burning.
The Israeli army also said – in a statement – that its fighters attacked several Hezbollah infrastructures earlier today.
Sirens sounded in a number of Israeli towns adjacent to the Lebanese border, including Kiryat Shmona, Margaliot, and Shtoula.
The army said, “Following the warnings in the north of the country, a number of launches were monitored from Lebanese territory towards Israeli territory.”
He explained that he attacked the sources of the fire with artillery, and that he monitored the firing of about 25 shells from Lebanon towards “Israeli territory” without causing any casualties, adding that his forces carried out artillery shelling towards the sources of the fire.
Dropping a drone
Earlier, Hezbollah announced that the resistance shot down an Israeli Hermes 54 drone with a surface-to-air missile at dawn today, adding that its debris was seen falling over the Galilee Finger area.
The party explained that this aircraft is a multi-mission combat drone, and it was targeted at 01:45 local time.
On the other hand, the occupation army announced that its forces were able to intercept a missile fired from Lebanese territory at an Israeli drone.
It is noteworthy that since October 8, the Lebanese-Israeli border has witnessed daily exchanges of bombardment between the Israeli occupation army on the one hand and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon on the other hand, which left dead and wounded on both sides of the border.
