Iron Woman, that is the nickname for Mutlu Kaya which is given to her by almost two million followers on TikTok. This nickname was given to him because he had a bullet in his brain after a shooting incident eight years ago.
In May 2015, aged 20, Mutlu was a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent. At that time, Mutlu was very happy because his dream as a singer would soon come true.
However, a few days after appearing on the TV show, the future he imagined was snatched away from him. A man proposed to her, but Mutlu rejected his love. The woman from Turkey was then shot in the head by the angry man.
The man was not a stranger. They have been quite close since Mutlu was 14 years old, but their closeness became toxic. The man becomes a person who is easily jealous and emotional. One day the man proposed to Mutlu and there was a rejection.
After the incident, Mutlu spent about two months in intensive care. Mutlu managed to survive, but he was disabled. Mutlu cannot use his hands and his daily life is assisted by a wheelchair.
The bullet remains lodged in his brain, a permanent reminder of his ordeal. After eight years have passed, Mutlu is still trying to voice justice.
Through the TikTok platform, the 28-year-old woman is fighting for change so that the punishment for cruel people can be harsher. He also wants the government to take violence against women in Turkey more seriously.
Mutlu also expressed his protest because his older brother, Dilek, was killed three years ago by a man who claimed to be his girlfriend. Dilek was shot and killed the day after his 35th birthday, in March 2020.
“I was more devastated than my bullet case,” said Mutlu, as quoted by News Sky.
“Cruel people will pay the price someday,” Mutlu hopes.
