Imad Miteb, the former Al-Ahly player and the Egyptian national team, confirmed that he had advised Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazy to move to the Saudi Jeddah Federation, indicating that he had informed him that this step would be a reason to change his course.
Mutab said in statements to the Saudi newspaper, Al-Riyadiah, that he had spoken with Hegazy about his transfer to the Saudi Jeddah club, stressing that the circumstances may be a reason for changing his course.
He added, “It would be a good step, especially that he does not have the opportunity to participate in England and play in the squad, as he is one of the best Egyptian names in the defense position at the present time.”
He explained that he believes that Hijazi is looking for an opportunity to play and his transfer to the Al-Ittihad club is a move to one of the pillars of the Saudi League and its tops, pointing out that playing for Al-Ittihad is a great thing, especially as it has a large audience and overwhelming popularity.
Regarding the advice he gave to Hijazi before moving to Al-Ittihad, he indicated that he advised him to sign and explained the situation to him, and told him, “You are going to a big club and a strong technical and mass league.”
He continued: “I told him about what I know about the Saudi League, its strength and its fans, and I told him this is a strong step for you and you will benefit from it technically and important to attend with the Egyptian national team, and I hope that you also started with the beginning of the return of the Jeddah Federation to the front.”
And he moved to talk about his experiences in the Saudi League, which was the time difference between them 10 years, as the first was in Al-Ittihad, and the second experience was in 2018 with Al-Taawon Club.
He stressed that the first experience was with Al-Ittihad, the great club there, and achieved the Saudi League title with him, and the second with cooperation and he wished to be a successful experience, but circumstances prevented that.
When asked about his opinion of Zamalek’s chances to qualify for the African Champions League final at the expense of Raja, he indicated that the white team is highly qualified to win and skip the semi-finals, especially after winning the first-leg match with a clean goal away from home, stressing that it is a golden opportunity for an Egyptian team to win the African Championship, After a long absence from the coronation of an Egyptian team.
