The departure deadline for Hasan was moved to July 1, so that he could complete high school. The deadline has already been postponed a number of times.
Hasan and his family came to Norway from Jordan in 2008 and received a temporary residence permit. After four years, however, he was withdrawn because his mother, who is originally Palestinian – but was married in Jordan – had stated that she came from Palestine.
Most of the family members were sent out of the country, but not Hasan because he was under 18 years old. After Hasan turned 18, he received a final deportation decision from the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE).
Unlike his
UNE believes the case has been carefully considered and that Hasan has never had a valid residence permit.
– Mustafa Hasan has never had a valid residence permit in Norway. His permit was revoked in 2012 and in this case, UNE believes that it is right to reject his application for residence on humanitarian grounds, says department head at UNE, Terje Østraat to VG.
– The parties have different views, both on what are the facts of the case and the legal. We will explain UNE’s views on the case in more detail in court this week.
A key point in the lawsuit against UNE is that Hasan’s one year older brother, Abdel, has been granted residence.
