Mustafa Cengiz was bid farewell to his last journey

Mustafa Cengiz, one of the former presidents of Galatasaray Club and passed away yesterday at the age of 71, was bid farewell to his last journey.

The funeral of Mustafa Cengiz, which was brought to the Marmara University Faculty of Theology Mosque, was taken to the closed area at the entrance due to wind and rain. Cengiz’s son Sarper Cengiz accepted his condolences here.

In addition to the relatives of Cengiz, the funeral prayer performed in the afternoon; President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, AK Party Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım, CHP Istanbul Deputy Akif Hamzaçebi, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya, Galatasaray Club President Burak Elmas, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Nihat Özdemir, TFF managers Hamit Altıntop, İsmail Erdem, former presidents of Galatasaray Club Faruk Süren, Adnan Polat, Dursun Özbek, Beşiktaş Club President Ahmet Nur Çebi, Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç, Başakşehir Football Club President Göksel Gümüşdağ, World Ethnosport Confederation President Bilal Erdoğan, Galatasaray Technical Director Fatih Terim, Çaykur Rizespor Technical Director Hamza Hamzaoğlu, former yellow-red managers Abdurrahim Albayrak and Yusuf Günay, who served under the management of Cengiz, attended.

In his speech after the funeral prayer, President Erdoğan said the following:

“We performed the funeral prayer of Mustafa Cengiz Gentleman together. May God rest his place in heaven. Every soul will taste death. It is the place where we will all return. It is the place where we will all return. With a few words, I will not say Mr. Mustafa, I will say Brother Mustafa. Really, in this community, especially the football community. in management ‘I met a gentleman.’ I would not be doing an injustice if I said that. He was truly a gentleman and he carried out his duty as a gentleman until the last moment. May my Lord reward our brother Mustafa, who does not break hearts, wins hearts, and continues in this state, with his paradise and beauty. May God give patience to his family and community. I hope my Lord will help you.”

Many names from the world of politics and business, as well as the sports world, did not leave the Cengiz family alone at the funeral.

Cengiz’s coffin, wrapped in the Galatasaray flag, was carried to the funeral vehicle after the prayer. The body was buried in the family cemetery in Ulus Cemetery.


BROUGHT TO THE STADIUM FOR THE LAST TIME

After the body of Mustafa Cengiz was taken from the hospital in Maslak, it was first taken to the Ali Sami Yen Stadium in Seyrantepe.

Abdurrahim Albayrak, who served as the second president during the period when Mustafa Cengiz was the President of Galatasaray, was one of the first to come to the mosque for the funeral prayer, and carried the deceased’s body to the hearse.
