October 10: Vegas Golden Knights – Seattle Kraken (Golden Knights home opener)

The Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights raise their banner in a meeting with Calder Trophy winner Matty Beniers and his Seattle Kraken in the first round of the 2023-24 regular season. Vegas hopes to defend its title, while Seattle looks to build on its impressive second season in the NHL that saw the team reach the second round of the playoffs.

October 10: Chicago Blackhawks at Pittsburgh Penguins – Chicago Blackhawks (possible debut for Connor Bedard)

Connor Bedard will most likely be selected first overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 draft. What better way to celebrate his debut than to watch him go up against another first pick in Sidney Crosby and his Penguins? Bedard, who is expected to go straight into the NHL, can then make his home debut at the United Center against Vegas on October 21.

29 oktober: Edmonton Oilers – Calgary Flames (2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic)

20 years after the first outdoor regular season game in league history, Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton will once again be the scene of the Heritage Classic. The Oilers, who participated in the game in 2003 and lost 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens, face the Flames in a matchup featuring stars like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau.

October 30: Boston Bruins – Florida Panthers (2023 playoff rematch)

The Bruins set regular season records for wins (65) and points (135) this past regular season, but fell in the first round of the playoffs against the Panthers. Florida was down 3-1 in games but turned around and won in game 7. Here Boston gets its first opportunity for revenge.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2023 inductees include goaltender Mike Vernon who played for the Flames from 1982-1994 and won the Stanley Cup with the team in 1989. Calgary plays rivals Toronto at Scotiabank Arena on the weekend the class is officially inducted.

December 9: Washington Capitals – New York Rangers (Laviolette vs. his former team)

The match features two new coaches; rookie Spencer Carbery with the Capitals and Peter Laviolette with the Rangers, as these Metropolitan Division rivals meet for the first time this season. Laviolette was the Capitals’ coach the previous three seasons but left after the team missed the playoffs in 2022-23. The American has 752 wins; eighth most in NHL history and most of any coach born in the United States.

December 23: Florida Panthers – Vegas Golden Knights (Stanley Cup Final Rematch)

It will be a couple of months before the final teams Panthers and Golden Knights meet again after the Stanley Cup final; this time at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers fell to the Golden Knights in five games in the finals. The teams also meet in T-Mobile Arena on January 4.

1 januari: Seattle Kraken – Vegas Golden Knights (2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic)
