The spring and the temperatures that the whole of Norway experienced last week were, unfortunately, just that: A bluff.
– There were probably many like me, who started to produce garden furniture and manage with it. But it was a spring bluff, with 20 degrees. It will not happen again this weekend – one or next week, says meteorologist Rafael Escobar Løvdahl at the Meteorological Institute.
Arctic air
The whole of Norway is now in an Arctic air period, so the summer clothes can stay put, until further notice.
– The low pressures from the west are absent, so Northern Norway is in this cold air and to some extent also Southern Norway, says Løvdahl.
–
South of Stadt and Dovre are sheltered from the rain.
– In northern Norway, Trøndelag and north-western Norway, there will be building weather. There will be snow in the north and more changing in Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal, with snow in the height, says the meteorologist.
Across Norway, the weather we have had this week will continue. At least through the weekend, but probably also out next week.
– During the weekend, right on the buttocks, probably on Sunday, you will be affected by a low pressure that pulls from Greenland. Then they get a little less cold air in Nordland and partly in Troms. The precipitation there may be sleet and partly rain along the coast, but it is temporary. The low pressure will pass, and it will again be cold and snow showers from Trøndelag, Møre and Romsdal and north. .
Sun in the south and west
This weekend there will be a lot of sun in southern Norway.
– It gets cold at night, and over ten degrees during the day. In Western Norway, the cloud cover can vary a little more, and at times there may also be a few showers. But little precipitation, says the meteorologist.
He had wanted more rainfall, to put an end to the great danger of grass and heather fires.
– There will be some precipitation in Western Norway this weekend, but not enough to overcome the danger of fire, he says.
The cold continues
Next week will be quite similar to the week we are now leaving behind.
– It is cold and there will be a lot of sun in the East and West. From Møre og Romsdal and northwards, the weather changes greatly, and there will continue to be snow showers, says Løvdahl and continues:
– It is asked how much clothing you are wearing, if you think about outdoor beer weather, because it continues to be cold during the day and frost in the morning.
Winter continues from Møre og Romsdal and northwards, while the cold, dry spring continues in the south, with grass and heather fire danger.
– It would have been good with proper precipitation because it is very dry now in the south, which needs precipitation and some heat to get this year’s vegetation started. Last year’s dry grass and twigs are out. We need new, green to get out of this, he says.
Normal weather
– Is the weather now affected by climate change?
– The weather we have is quite normal. At the same time, the climate has changed. The average weather these 30 years is not the same as the 30 years before. The weather is generally milder, but the type of weather we have today does not reflect that change, he says.
And adds that there will be more snow in northern Norway.
– So if people are tempted to go on a trip, it is important that they check the landslide conditions. It is important to check varsom.no, but most of all it is important with local knowledge.
