Workers at a workplace in the Australian state of New South Wales are threatening to quit after what they describe as poor working conditions.
The accusations concern poor safety for the workers, in addition to the fact that they are allegedly served very bad food, including larvae in it. This is reported by 7 News, among others.
The Australian Workers’ Union, the Australian labor union, has published pictures of a piece of meat with a maggot in it which is said to have been served in the workplace.
The state secretary of the Australian Federation of Labor, Tony Callinan, said this week the caterpillar incident was indicative of a wider management problem in the workplace.
The trade union has published a number of photos of meals the employees are said to have been served at the workplace. In addition to larvae in the food, several of the images will show less tempting meals.
Callinan compared the meals to prison food and said that “even inmates in high security prisons are served better food”.
– There are workers literally living locked in a workplace with poor facilities in the middle of nowhere and being fed maggot-infested food, said the secretary, according to The Guardian.

Callinan claims the problem is due to the management trying to save as much money as possible in order to make as much profit as possible themselves.
The union is said to have also received a number of reports of serious safety problems at the site.
The secretary of the association claims it is only a matter of time before a tragedy will happen.
