JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina (Persero) officially prohibits the purchase of fuel oil (BBM) type Pertalite use jerry cans. This policy applies to all Pertamina Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU).
Acting Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Sub Holding Commercial & Trading of PT Pertamina (Persero), Irto Ginting said the purchase of Pertalite using jerry cans is prohibited because Pertalite has now become a Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP).

The change in Pertalite and general BBM to assigned BBM is regulated in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 37.K/HK.02/MEM.M/2022 concerning Types of Special Oil Fuel for Assignment.
This means that the distribution of Pertalite will be regulated by the government to the assignment area, and it can be subsidized through a compensation scheme by the government to Pertamina.
“The change of Pertalite into assignment fuel where there is an element of subsidy or price compensation and quota allocation, Pertamina prohibits gas stations from serving the purchase of Pertalite using jerry cans or drums for resale at the retail level,” said Irto in a statement received by Kompas.com, Friday. (8/4/2022).
The prohibition on buying Pertalite using jerry cans also refers to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 13 of 2017 concerning Provisions for Distribution of Fuel Oil through Distributors.
Irto said that the regulation stipulates that the distributor business entity, in this case Pertamina, can only distribute fuel assigned directly to users, not for resale to retailers.

“Pertamina can only distribute fuel to users directly for transportation and household fuel needs, not for resale to retailers,” he explained.
According to him, this is one of Pertamina’s efforts to ensure that the distribution of assigned fuel, in this case Pertalite, is right on target to those who are entitled to use it.
“It is part of the company’s responsibility to distribute JBKP Pertalite on target so that it can be enjoyed by the people who are entitled to it,” concluded Irto.
For information, in line with Pertalite being designated as the type of assigned fuel, the government has set the Pertalite quota this year at 23.05 million kiloliters (kl).
Meanwhile, the realization of Pertalite distribution until February 2022 has reached 4.258 million kl, 18.5 percent higher than the quota set during January-February 2022.
