Bright sunshine over southern and eastern Norway last week created a southern vibe for the public and bathers in Øya, and on Sunday the Meteorological Institute measured the highest summer temperature for Blindern in Oslo at 28.2 degrees.
But now there will be a break. This is good news for brown lawns and empty water tanks.
– I live in Bergen, so I had to go to Oslo to get some sun, says Mathias Haughom (24). He and his group of friends are among the many enjoying themselves in Tjuvholmen this hot Sunday.
– We met to play volleyball, but it was too hot so we had to go here to jump into the lake. This is to be enjoyed while it lasts.

Rain and thunder
– Now there will be rain and thunderstorms, says Håkon Mjelstad, who is the meteorologist on duty in Oslo.
Agder and Telemark may have scattered showers already on Sunday evening, but the weather that arrives from Monday evening is more rigid. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a yellow warning for torrential rain in Oslo since Monday evening.
– In southern and eastern Norway there will be a lot of rainfall from Monday evening to Tuesday, and this is also the case for the rest of the week. But in østafjell, there are opportunities for sunny periods even on weekends, the forecaster says. He remembers that these weather forecasts also have positive aspects: -We need precipitation now.
Sweden’s Annbritt Markander (81) and niece Miranda Dahlgren (25) enjoy ice cream at Aker brygge before returning home to Sweden on Sunday evening.
– In Oslo this weekend we had the best time of the summer, says Miranda.

TRAVELING WITH GRANDCHILDREN: – We travel together once a year, and previously we have been to Nice, Milan, Monaco, Barcelona and Athens. The trip to Oslo was just as good, says fit grandmother Annbritt Markander (81). Photo: Frode Hansen / VG
It also changes in western Norway
Westerners also had a good weekend, but it won’t last long.
– After the fog cleared on Saturday, we had a lovely evening and the sun is shining today. Bergen can get up to 24 degrees on Sunday and Stavanger 28. But the joy is that it will be cloudy from Sunday evening. It is not safe for some showers both here, in Trøndelag and in Møre and Romsdal from the evening, says meteorologist on duty for Vestlandet and Trøndelag, Aslaug Skålevik Valved.
Monday will be mostly cloudy and thunderstorms may occur in Rogaland and Vestland in the afternoon. Rogaland can expect heavy rains on Wednesday, up to 20 millimeters per hour.
– Thursday, on the other hand, looks like it will be a good day overall, says Valved.

BEST BY BOAT: – We have to go out while the weather is still nice. That way we prolong the summer vacation feeling, says Liv Sigurdsson (57), who is on a boat trip with her husband Geir Engen (57), her sister Bodil Sigurdsson and dog Lira. Photo: Frode Hansen / VG
Sol and North
In northern Norway the weather improved on Sunday and Monday.
– We’ve already had our first taste of autumn in the last few days, with an orange warning for rainfall in Nordland and a lot of wind in Troms and Finnmark, so it’s calmer now, says Northern Norway weather meteorologist Maiken Vassel.
– In Nordland, Troms and Finnmark there will be a break for rain and wind. It will be partly cloudy, but the sun is likely to appear. The temperature will rise, especially on Monday and Tuesday, and possibly even up to 23 degrees on Tuesday.
Good news for the northerners, who have recently had 10-12 degrees, but they won’t last long.
– Severe thunderstorms in the south at the beginning of the week are gradually moving here. There may be torrential rains, lightning and thunder in Nordland on Tuesday afternoon, moving north and reaching Finnmark on Wednesday, says Vassel.

NO TIME FOR WEATHER REPORT: Ole-Halvor Holmedahl Flatland (34) took his sons Kanutte (2.5) and Halvor (1) to Tjuvholmen beach while his wife was at work on Sunday. – It fits well when the weather is like this, but I don’t have time to think about what the weather will be like when I have these two.
