The National Council on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) has urged Muslim consumers to avoid consuming certain products from CDO Foodsphere after a laboratory test found contamination of the company’s halal certified products with pork. The affected products are Chicken Franks, Holiday Chicken Hotdog, Ulam Burger, Crispy Chicken Burger and Chicken Flakes. The NCMF thanked the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) for providing accurate information about the contamination and ensuring the Muslim community is protected from consuming haram (forbidden) products. CDO Foodsphere has assured the public that it is taking steps to resolve the issue and comply with traditional Muslim Sharia law. The NCMF expressed appreciation for the company’s professionalism and commitment to working with the commission to resolve the issue. The affected area is the Calabarzon region, which includes five provinces in the Philippines.
