Musk wants to lay off 10 percent of all Tesla employees

The e-mail ended up in the hands of the news agency Reuters† Musk is said to have “a super bad feeling” about the economy, he wrote to his board.

Tesla currently employs about 99,290 people, according to information the company disclosed to the SEC. In addition to the layoff, Musk also asks for all current vacancies to be stopped.

Demand remains high, supply is a problem

Tesla’s stock price is down about 9 percent today. Tesla stock has had to endure more than once in the past month due to all the drama and uncertainty surrounding Musk’s attempt to buy Twitter.

At the same time, demand for electric cars like Tesla’s remains high. However, the auto industry is struggling with the consequences of the global chip shortage, which limits the number of cars that companies can supply.

It’s not the only comment Musk had on his employees this week. He threatened on Wednesday to fire all employees who continue to work from home, unless they were also in the office 40 hours a week.
