In a recent statement to the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley club, Elon Musk said the company’s factories in Texas and Berlin were losing billions of dollars. “The two factories in Berlin and Austin are huge kilns for money right now. Clear? It’s like a loud growling sound, the sound of money burning, “Musk said in his typical style.
He added that the factory in Texas currently produces a very small number of cars that need due to problems with increasing production of 4680 batteries. There are also problems with other types of batteries, those of type 2170, the tools for which slow down a Chinese port.
“This will be fixed very quickly, but it requires a lot of attention and it will take more effort to make this factory highly productive than it took to build it. The past two years have been an absolute nightmare of supply disruptions, things have come one after the other and are not over yet. Our main concern is to keep the factories open so that we can pay people and not go bankrupt. The closures of factories in China were, very, very difficult.
