Musk asks Twitter users if he should step down

In another drastic rule change, Twitter announced that users will no longer be able to log into Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, and other platforms that the company has described as “off-limits.”

But the ban generated so much immediate criticism, even from people who had previously supported the billionaire on Twitter matters, that Musk vowed not to make any further major policy changes without first allowing users to vote on the issue.

“Sorry. It won’t happen again,” Musk tweeted before organizing a new 12-hour poll asking whether he should step down as head of Twitter, adding that “I will follow up on the results of this poll.”

Voting closes at lunchtime on Monday. Then it remains to be seen how Musk will act, depending on what the outcome will be.
