The American billionaire and owner of “Twitter”, Elon Musk, announced, Saturday, new updates to the platform that will include different countries and cultures, praising the content in Japan.
“In the coming months, Twitter will translate and recommend amazing Tweets from people in other countries and cultures,” Musk said in a post, adding that “there are amazing Tweets in other countries every day (especially Japan).”
He explained that “the tweets will be translated before they are recommended,” noting that there is “interesting and entertaining content from all over the world that is worth watching.”
Musk announced in another tweet that the network’s paid subscription service will display fewer ads to users, including a completely ad-free category.
He said, “Ads are very frequent on Twitter and very large. We are taking measures to address these two aspects together in the coming weeks,” noting that the network will offer “a higher-priced subscription that does not include any ads.”
This will be a radical change in the business model of Twitter, which has so far relied on targeted advertising to generate revenue, before the launch of the paid subscription service in mid-December.
But the ads have come under question for Twitter recently, after Musk fired about half of the company’s 7,500 employees late last year.
In response to a report by “CNBC” on Friday, he stated that the number of full-time employees in “Twitter” had decreased to about 1,300 working employees, including about 550 with the job title of engineer, and Musk said in a tweet, Saturday, that the Twitter company It has about 2,300 working employees.
The channel quoted internal records that there are about 75 of these company employees on vacation, including about 40 engineers.
The billionaire Musk wrote in his tweet in response to a tweet quoting the “CNBC” report: “The information is incorrect. There are about 2,300 current employees working on Twitter,” adding that “there are hundreds of other employees working in the trust and safety department, along with several thousands of contractors.
Musk acquired Twitter last October and quickly went through a number of changes to services and organization. The company launched the blue authentication mark as a paid service, and laid off about 50 percent of employees, according to Reuters.
