Musician Jānis Irbe: “People’s dreams are connected and influence each other”

Perhaps a little unusual for a singer, but Jānis’ main instrument is the bass guitar, which in live performance is accompanied by the so-called “drum machine”. The musician counts himself among the group of performers of the post-punk genre, who works both alone and together with his friends – guitarist Jānis Dubav and keyboardist Patris Valdemāras.

The harbingers of the new album “Sapņu rųre” and “Cauri zariem” were created by Jānis alone, but the upcoming album will include three compositions created in collaboration with Jānis and Patrice. The musician assesses: “”Dream Steering Wheel” is a dynamic composition with fused, driven electric guitar and bass guitar, with poetic lyrics and interesting combinations of words. The song tells about the fact that people’s dreams are connected and influence each other. On the other hand, “Cauri zariem” has combined electronic and acoustic drums. A dynamic song as well, the development of which is continued by a muted mood and a final climax with an ending made with the idea that the theme could go on and on, just like the closing text “I touch again, I touch again”. The song tells about a romantic day, about a girl (now his wife) whom Jānis met in the fall, and the day spent together was so great that they couldn’t say goodbye.

Songs can be found on music streaming services. The visual presentation of both songs was created by designer Mārtiņs Lotz. The songs were recorded, mixed and mastered by Jānis Irbe in his home studio.
