The musician Gatis Irbe or Gacho in the show “Pali bazaar”explained the breakup of friendship with the boxer Mairi Briedi.
Briedis has surprised the public several times this year, first by not giving a clear position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but also by standing in the 14 Saeima elections in the ranks of the social democratic party “Saskaņa”. At one time Briedis went to his fights accompanied directly by the music of Irbe, but, as the musician himself admitted, the relationship between them deteriorated.
“We have been together for many years, since the beginning of her professional career. I have already supported Mairi by accompanying her to the ring with my songs. At the moment we are not in a relationship, we do not communicate, but there were several factors for this,” he said Irbe. “People can see for themselves where she stands on the war. Let her stand by that view no matter what I tell her.”
Irbe also revealed that the relationship ended when the musician posted a video on his social networks in which he received congratulations from Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk. “I think he deleted me from Instagram when I posted a video with Usika. After that I noticed I wasn’t his anymore on Instagram,Irbe said.
The musician also admitted that during their collaboration the relationship was perhaps not as close as he would have liked. “The best chooses the best. Why did I go to his fights? Because he chose the best [dziesmu], which will carry him into battle. He liked my songs, he chose one particular song that was like a talisman for him. It was nice to support him as a boxer, he was like one in a million, hats off. But this is his position, unfortunately. But what the hell, we live” Gacho said about the experience.
