Sony will acquire rights to a total of more than 300 songs and 20 studio albums, including the legendary “Born to Run”, “The River” and “Born in the USA”.
The company does not comment on the deal, but the music industry is not surprised by the amount of the deal. For example, in the past year alone, Springsteen’s music has brought in $ 15 million, and interest in the work of the 72-year-old singer and songwriter has not diminished.
No comments are required for his career awards – 20 “Grammys”, two “Golden Globes” and “1993 Oscar” for the song “Streets of Philadelphia”. In 2016, he was awarded the Freedom Medal by US President Barack Obama, and the musician was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
There have been a number of other similar deals recently, with up to $ 450 million, $ 250 million and $ 150 million paid for the songs by Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Nile Young, respectively.
