The prominent Russian musician Andréi Serebrennikov, recognized as the pioneer of the punk rock genre in his country, unfortunately died from drowning while enjoying his vacation on the beaches of Cuba, in the Caribbean. The tragic incident occurred on October 3, although surprisingly it was not publicly reported in Russian media until a few hours ago.

According to the news portal Argumenti, 60-year-old Serebrennikov was swimming on a Cuban beach when he suffered a heart attack and, as a result, drowned, as he could not stay afloat or be rescued in time.

The media also reported that the leader of the band Punks on Drunk was in Cuba with his family as part of a tourist trip organized by Russian agencies, which usually offer destinations such as Varadero, the northern keys of the central region and Guadalavaca in Holguín. . However, it is not specified where exactly this tragedy occurred.

Pavel Zdravomyslov, a close collaborator of the musician, shared the news on social networks and expressed that with the death of Andréi an exceptional man and an era of music are leaving. The official page of the band Punks on Drunk on VKontakte (VK) also confirmed the death of their leader, Aron, on October 4.

Serebrennikov dedicated more than 35 years to music and founded Punks on Drunk in 1988. Under his leadership, the band released 13 albums and a DVD with numerous video clips, leaving an indelible mark on the Russian punk rock scene as a vocalist and bassist.

Russian media reported that the musician’s body will be repatriated in the coming weeks to receive appropriate honors in his homeland.
