Musician and journalist Lipnitsky / GORDON died in Russia

Rock musician Alexander Lipnitsky toured with Boris Grebenshchikov and the Aquarium group, was one of the founders of the Zvuki Mu group, and shot a series of films about the main characters of Russian rock in the 80s.

Russian rock musician, journalist and culturologist Alexander Lipnitsky died on March 25 at the age of 68, reports Radio Svoboda.

As his wife said, he drowned on March 25 when he tried to ski on the ice of the Moskva River near the village of Nikolina Gora.

Music critic Artemy Troitsky, friend of the deceased, clarified in the commentary REN TVthat Lipnitsky went for a walk with the dog in the evening and, “apparently, the dog fell through the ice, rushed to save the dog and failed himself.”

“Absolutely irreparable loss. There are no words. That’s who the eternal memory will definitely not bypass. RIP”, – wrote Troitsky.



Alexander Lipnitsky was born in 1952 in Moscow, graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. Since 1975 he began to publish in the Soviet press as a jazz specialist. In 1980, Lipnitsky met Boris Grebenshchikov and the Aquarium group, with whom he began touring.

Lipnitsky was a friend of Viktor Tsoi and the musicians of the Kino groups, Sergei Kuryokhin, the founder of the Zoo group Mike Naumenko. In 1983, together with Peter Mamonov and Alexei Bortnichuk, he organized the rock group “Sounds of Mu”, in which he played as a bass player until 1990.

At various times Lipnitsky worked on the St. Petersburg TV, the TV channel “Nostalgia”. Since 2010, he hosted the Content program on the Finam FM radio station, dedicated to Russian rock. In recent years, he also directed a series of films about the main characters of Russian rock in the 80s, with whom he was well acquainted. The presentation of the last film by Alexander Lipnitsky “Time Machine: The Glass Bead Game” took place on March 14.
