Musician and composer John Miles, known for “Music (was my first love)”, has passed away

In 1976 John Miles had a worldwide hit with “Music”. This song became the anthem of “Night of the Proms”, where John was already a guest during the first edition in 1985. John has been an integral part of the tour since the start of the concert series in Antwerp, with the exception of the two years in which he accompanied Tina Turner as musical director and lead guitarist.

John Miles also shared the stage with other stars. He made duets with Andrea Bocelli (1995), Michael McDonald (2002), Sharon den Adel (2009), Anastacia (2012), Zucchero (1999), Emily Bear (2017), Lara Fabian (2007), Milow (2018) and Ronan Keating (2016).

He also provided covers of hits by Queen, Led Zeppelin, ELO, Miley Cyrus, Avicii and Van Halen.

In addition to his wife Eileen, to whom he was married for 49 years, he leaves behind a son and daughter and two grandchildren.
