Musician Ahmad Dhani apologized to TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (AU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo, and all ranks for carrying out political campaigns in military areas. Ahmad Dhani uploaded the apology on his Instagram account, ahmaddhaniofficial.
In a 1 minute 33 second video, Ahmad Dhani explained that the problem was so he apologized. He said he had campaigned for Gerindra Party Chairman and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto as President in 2024.
“Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Friends, guys“, and everyone, especially the ranks of the Republic of Indonesia Air Force, I would like to say sorry and apologize,” said Dhani starting the video, as seen detikcomWednesday (25/10/2023) night.
He admitted that he had violated ethics by campaigning in a military area. In accordance with regulations, the TNI-Polri must act neutrally in elections.
“Because yesterday in Tasikmalaya, I violated ethics that I should not have done, namely campaigning for Prabowo for president in a military area, especially the Air Force, which should be a neutral area,” explained Ahmad Dhani.
He also admitted that he was campaigning for his wife, Mulan Jameela, who was running as a legislative candidate from the Gerindra Party in the Indonesian Air Force military area. Ahmad Dhani said that at that time he recommended that he vote for his wife in the legislative elections.
“I also campaigned for my wife as a legislative candidate for the Gerindra Party in Garut and Tasikmalaya, I advised her to vote. It shouldn’t have been allowed because it was a military area that was supposed to be neutral,” said Ahmad Dhani.
He apologized again. He promised not to repeat his actions again.
Whatever it is, I apologize and I promise I will not do it again, campaigning for Prabowo within the Air Force. “Sorry once again, I won’t do it again,” said Ahmad Dhani.
“I apologize to Mr. Danlanud Tasikmalaya, also directly to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force at Headquarters, as well as directly to the TNI Commander in the ranks of Mr. Jokowi’s government.
