NThere are only two weeks left until the Ball Royale in the city of Baden. In order to shorten the waiting time, the Cinema Paradiso in Baden is showing the legendary dance film “An American in Paris” with the Oscar-winning music by George Gershwin on January 11th at 8 p.m.
Similar to the Rhapsody in Blue, the filmstrip “An American in Paris” is a free-form rhapsody or tone poem in which Gershwin musically expresses the impressions of his own stay in Paris in 1928. Melodies such as: I Got Rhythm, Stairway to Paradise, The Man I Love or S’Wonderful, sung by Gene Kelly or Leslie Caron, are among the most popular musical classics worldwide today.
At the 1952 Academy Awards, the musical film “An American in Paris” won six Oscars. George Gershwin received a posthumous Oscar for his music. The Golden Globe award paved the way for the triumph of today’s musical classic. “An atmospheric, dance-filled film musical with the authentic, atmospheric flair of Paris – a celebration for fans of bombastic musical entertainment,” is how the press office of the municipality of Baden advertises the musical classic on the big screen of the Cinema Paradiso in Baden.
