Composing on board the Trans-Siberian Railway
Today, Peter Piek’s artistic work is primarily characterized by its intermediality. Piek primarily combines painting and music and blurs the boundaries between the two disciplines. This is also the case in his latest album “The time traveling”: The artist gathered the inspiration for this on a long journey through China. It was there that Piek came up with the idea of fulfilling his childhood dream: a trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway. On board what is probably the most famous train in the world, he finally produced his album in 2019, in which the sound of the train sets the pace: One of the songs is entitled “Blue Flamingo”. In the associated Video Peter Piek combines set pieces from painting, photography and moving images in an artistic way.
