The doctors back on tour in Germany
–
The punk rock band Die Ärzte started their “Buffalo Bill in Rome” tour at the Expo Plaza in Hanover. The concert on the former grounds of the world exhibition was sold out, around 25,000 people wanted to experience Die Ärzte live after the long Corona break. “Concerts are something that we enjoy a lot, which we all missed,” said guitarist Farin Urlaub (58) shortly before the start of the tour. Drummer Bela B (59) spoke of a new old Die-Ärzte feeling: “You can feel the enthusiasm that it was at the very beginning, as if we had just founded the band.” The founding year was 1982, well-known hits are “Westerland” (1988) or the anti-Nazi song “Schrei nach Liebe” (1993).

Last year, the self-proclaimed “Best Band in the World”, which also includes bassist Rodrigo González (53), initially had to postpone a sold-out tour due to the pandemic and then had to cancel it entirely. This year, the three musicians have already played in several Berlin clubs to support the capital’s scene. On their big stadium tour, Die Ärzte will next stop in Cologne (June 4) and Dresden (June 9).
