We take (more or less) the same ones and start again: the traditional “Český slavík” (Czech Nightingale) awards ceremony was held in Prague on Friday evening and it hardly brought any surprises. This was the 61st edition of these awards which reward the most popular singers of the moment, after a public vote.
Like last year, Marek Ztracený and Kabát were awarded in two of the three main categories of singer and group of the year. The only development, among the singers, was that Ewa Farna was ahead of Lucie Bílá. The singer from Moravia-Silesia also came out on top for the “Absolute Nightingale” since she was the one who received the greatest number of votes, all categories combined. Tereza Balonová won the “Discovery of the Year” prize.
This ceremony was also the occasion for a tribute to Václav Neckář. The singer and actor, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, was inducted into the Czech Music Hall of Fame.
