The Kokopelli saxophone quartet will be guests at the Westerwinkel concert on October 3rd (Sunday) at 7 p.m. in the Church of St. Anna Davensberg.
Just as the mythical “Kokopelli” wandered around 2000 years ago in the American Midwest with his wind instrument and delighted people with his music and humor, so today the four musicians of the Kokopelli saxophone quartet inspire their audiences with their unmistakable and varied The sound of their instruments, announced the Ascheberg Music School.
Whether music of the Renaissance, Gershwin’s swinging songs, French music from the court of the Sun King to chansons by Edith Piaf or grooving jazz, the stylish, faithful interpretations and own arrangements of the four saxophonists convince the audience again and again. Incidentally, the Kokopelli saxophone quartet was a finalist in the European “SaxContest” of the Yamaha company in 2003, which – to paraphrase Eric Satie – “proves that you should have a good time”.
The saxophone is an invention of the Belgian wind instrument tinkerer Adolphe Sax. He developed the woodwind instrument with a metal body over 150 years ago in order to couple the mobility of a string instrument with the volume of a brass instrument.
The Kokopelli Quartet is as versatile as the saxophone in its varied concert programs. Playing: Thomas Käseberg, soprano and alto saxophone, Romano Schubert, alto saxophone, Georg Niehusmann, tenor saxophone and Christine Hörmann, baritone saxophone
