The Grammy-nominated American trumpeter Philip Dizack brings his newly composed quartet and his lyrically airy playing to carnival. A trumpet performance we got to enjoy during an acclaimed concert at the Stockholm Jazz Festival last fall, when Dizack visited with piano virtuoso Shai Maestro’s quartet.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Philip Dizack began making music at the age of 10. After trying alto saxophone and trombone, he found the trumpet and drew musical inspiration from the playing of Miles Davis, Nicholas Payton, Lee Morgan and Louis Armstrong. Once in high school, his choice in life was clear. The jazz trumpet.
Philip Dizack has released three albums under his own name and a fourth is in the works. He is a legacy bearer who has had both Jazz Messengers saxophonist Bobby Watson and ten-time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri as mentors. Dizack has been a fixture on the contemporary New York scene for the past decade and has been a regular member of Shai Maestro’s quartet for some time.
Philip Dizack is coming to Muri with bassist Joe Sanders, pianist Mike King and drummer Jeremy Dutton.
