The Hönne-Ruhr Organ Festival, which takes place every two years, has already become established in Fröndenberg. Nevertheless, the organizers are trying to make the series of events even more attractive. That’s why they have come up with something very special this year: at the closing concert on September 7th, there will be a “Culinary Organ Night” for the first time.

The concert organist and organizer Daria Burlak from Fröndenberg will play a large organ concert in the Vincenzkirche in Menden, interrupted by several breaks. The music will be accompanied by culinary delights, as co-organizer Jörg Segtrop reports: “At the beginning of the event there will be a champagne reception in front of the church.” After the lively start, the evening will continue with further “appetizers.”

The musical episodes then alternate with culinary episodes, for which the organizers were able to secure the services of the traditional restaurant Oberkampf, Kirchplatz 6, in Menden. Burlak presented the program to the restaurant, which has stood for enjoyment since 1848, and gave the kitchen experts free rein to complement the music with culinary delights.

This concert is the only one in the series for which guests have to pay something: 40 euros are due for food and drinks. The necessary registrations can be submitted until Sunday, September 1st, by email to orgelfestival@gmx.de or by phone at (02373) 2060. “We are very much hoping for a good response, because this principle has already been very well received at other events,” says Segtrop.

In addition to the premiere at the end in Menden, there will also be a lot on offer in Fröndenberg, Lendringsen and Bausenhagen beforehand: In St. Marien Fröndenberg, an unusual combination will be offered at the opening concert on Saturday, August 31st from 7.30 p.m.: Organ (Daria Burlak) and percussion (Pavel Beliaev) will then show how well they fit together.

On Sunday, September 1st, an improvisation concert by Elmar Lehnen, the basilica organist of the pilgrimage site Kevelaer, will take place at the same location from 6 p.m. Their “favorite pieces” will be presented on Tuesday, September 3rd, in the Fröndenberg collegiate church by Burlak, Ramona Zimmermann, Christian Rose and Segtrop, starting at 7.30 p.m.

Many combinations – and one with food

On Thursday, September 5, in Fröndenberg’s oldest church in Bausenhagen, the musicians will be putting on a concert with eight different instruments – matching the eight windows of the church – with which they will individually reproduce their moods and motifs from 7.30 p.m.

Another colorful combination in the festival will be offered on Friday, September 6, by Antje Heinemann on the recorder, who will be giving a concert with Christian Rose on the organ in the Protestant church in Lendringsen from 7.30 p.m.
