It sounds like the umpteenth farewell to the stage, but that’s not it at all. At least that’s what the artist himself says!
There are people who believe he has “said goodbye a thousand times,” says Howard Carpendale in a video from Tuesday (October 15, 2024) in which he announces his last tour. But that’s not true.
Howard Carpendale: “The happiest time I ever had was in Cologne”
He only said goodbye once. “But now, when I’m 80 in 2026, I’ve decided that at least tours in this form will stop, where we travel and play 20 halls in a row. It’s over after that.”
It is now clear: Carpendale’s last tour in the year after next will also lead to four appearances in North Rhine-Westphalia, including a concert in Cologne. The performance in the Lanxess Arena is planned for March 18, 2026, with dates in Halle/Westphalia (March 14), Oberhausen (March 19) and Dortmund (March 29) on the program.
Carpendale had already been a guest in Cologne-Deutz with his tour Let’s do it again in May 2024 and was celebrated frenetically by his fans. This time too, the run for tickets is likely to be great, especially for the farewell event. General advance sales start on October 21, 2024.
Carpendale looks back on 60 years on the world’s stages. The farewell tour – in keeping with the continuation of the current tour – has the motto “Let’s Do It Again, Again!”. According to the information, he will be accompanied by his 15-piece band, who will take the audience on a musical journey through six decades.

“What could be nicer for an artist than to relive everything that has been my life for over 60 years on stage with these long-time friends,” said Carpendale.
The musician was born in Durban, South Africa, in 1946, but also enjoyed great success on the German market. His most successful songs include the songs “Ti amo” and “Hello Again”.
Carpendale has a special relationship with Cologne. Among other things, he played in the Rugby Bundesliga for ASV Köln in the 1960s. When he first retired in 2003, his last appearance took place in the Kölnarena (before it was renamed the Lanxess Arena). Son Wayne (47) was born in Frechen. “My time in Cologne was probably the happiest time I had,” Carpendale later said.
