Dan Ar Braz, exceptional Breton musician and his daughter Yuna, fascinated by gramophones and DJs, share together the passion for music. A passion that tells each other, on the terrace of a café for the Le Grand Bazhart show.

It was during the move from her paternal grandfather’s house that Yuna discovered a hundred 78 rpm records and a gramophone. From there a passion was born. Since that day she has lived only on music.

The Ar Braz family has a treasure that Yuna did not suspect. A multitude of 78 rpm records from the 30s, 40s and 50s, ranging from Cuban or black American music, such as Duke Ellington, to famous singer Tino Rossi or even Hawaiian music.

Daughter of an internationally renowned musician father, she feels the need to get away from her Brittany and travel in search of this world music. “To better return to the source” she says. Upon returning, Yuna shares her findings as a researcher. She then she mixes with the sound of electro-exotic, hip-hop or popular, traditional, old or current repertoires. She finally she professionalizes under the name of “DJ Wonderbraz“.

His passion for gramophones is growing. What she especially likes is sharing this particular sound that makes the whole body vibrate.

It is defined today a “passenger of old 78 rpm records” and for the share, she takes the risk scratch or break them. His records never stay long in a closet.

One foot in the water, one foot on the ground and your head in the clouds.

Dan Ar Braz happily shares the sounds of pop music and Celtic harmonies with his electric guitar. He defines himself discreet, dreamy and contemplative. He is also a lover of his native Cornwall. “Between Douarnenez and Quimper, cit’s a change of scenery that never ceases to amaze me “He explains.

Celtic rock was born from his meeting in 1966 with Alan Still but Dan Ar Braz has never stopped exploring other solo musical spaces. Despite thea richness and diversity of its itinerary, including rock, country, pop and Celtic music, he remains aware, above all, of having had the opportunity to do what he loved to do all these years.

In musical wandering he performs for the program Le Grand Bazhart, the artist poses with his daughter but also takes us to meet Clarisse Lavanandauthor, composer, interpreter and luthier Tom Marceau.

A walk with Dan Ar Braz tonight, Thursday 19 October, at midnight, at the Grand Bazhart on France 3 Bretagne and in replay on francetv.fr
