Music in old village churches 2021 starts in Selters with Dancas Ocultas from Portugal

News from 07/13/2021

The forced break has painfully shown how important culture is for public life. This is especially true for the domestic world music series “Music in old village churches”, which has stood for a cosmopolitan Westerwald for almost three decades. Now the shortened 26th row is due to start on August 22nd in Selters with virtuoso guests from Portugal.

Selters. Advance ticket sales begin on July 26th. Unfortunately, all concerts cannot yet take place in the usual concert churches. occur.

Quiet, lyrical, more or less traditional, only four diatonic accordions: these are the ?? Dancas Ocultas ?? from Portugal, who want to come to the Westerwald on Sunday, August 22nd. Your concert in the Festhalle Selters, which begins at 5 p.m., is the late start of the 26th series. The four exceptional accordionists have created innovative and exciting art music with which they have been conquering the international world music scene for years. The name of the quartet has nothing to do with esoteric worlds, but indicates that the four play music for dances that have yet to be invented. The famous Fado plays a subordinate role, rather they take traditional village music, Tango Nuevo and chamber music as the basis for their explorations. They do not hold accordion speed competitions, nor do they play pure folk music. Her timeless art music with profound sound paintings can best be described as impressionist folk.

The short world music tour continues with guests from Africa: Habib Koite became one of the great stars of world music, primarily because of his rousing live performances. Since 1994 he has delighted his fans worldwide in over 1,700 concerts. Now the musician from Mali is coming for the first time on September 12th with his band? Bamada ?? in the Westerwald and makes a guest appearance in the Montabaur town hall.

At the end of the shortened Westerwald world music series, Chango Spasiuk & Band from Argentina should cast a spell on the fans on October 10th. But the pandemic is still raging there, which is why the European tour had to be completely canceled a few days ago and postponed again for a year. However, it is planned that another world-class band will play in the town hall in Westerburg that day ?? the negotiations are currently still ongoing.

The planned concerts will be presented in the “KULTURSOMMER Rheinland-Pfalz”. The Mons Tabor cabaret and the cultural group of the VG Selters as organizers are looking forward to the fact that the concerts can (hopefully) take place – albeit this time in halls instead of churches. The musical ?? albeit a shorter one this time – world tour, as always, from Sparkasse Westerwald-Sieg and Energieversorgung Mittelrhein (EVM).

Advance ticket sales will start with a reduced number of seats from July 26th in the Schulte shoe store in Montabaur (Kirchstrasse 28) as well as in Selters at Madelon’s Sportshop (in the Saynbach-Center) and at the cultural group of the VG Selters (in the town hall Am Saynbach 5-7).
