The Couch Festival will kick off with a surprise concert at the weekly market in Schrobenhausen on Thursday at 11 a.m. This will be followed at 3 p.m. by a special concert by the Perperúna Ensemble in the Steingriff retirement home for residents and guests.
One of the two garden concerts at 6.30 p.m. and another on Saturday at 4.30 p.m., both in Schrobenhausen, will be performed by the Finnish singer-songwriter and pianist Vilma Talvitie from Helsinki. She moves between folk, global and pop music, combining singing, piano, percussion and dance with her voice and her “PianoBodyPercussion”. Talvitie mixes Nordic folk stories and traditional melodies with her own dynamic compositions, influenced by Finno-Ugric singing techniques.
At the second garden concert, tomorrow at 6.30 p.m., also in Schrobenhausen, James Michael Rodgers will perform, Scottish singer-songwriter who combines poetry with catchy rhythms and melodies. Critics are reminded of early Van Morrison and the lyrical style of Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, a quote: “James’ songs sound like a lullaby sighing with relief.” He will also perform on Friday at 4.30 p.m. and on Saturday at 6.30 p.m., both times at a free garden concert in Schrobenhausen (reservations required).
Deep feeling of longing and curiosity
Marc Loughrey, who also performed at the Couch Festival two years ago, also comes from the British Isles, Northern Ireland. This time he is a member of the trio of indie folk musician Elsdeer from Berlin, who will perform in a garden concert on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 p.m., both times in Schrobenhausen. The multi-instrumentalist’s music is influenced by the diverse cultures she encounters. Her songs evoke a deep feeling of longing and curiosity about the magic of life’s past, present and future moments, according to the announcement. Elsdeer’s line-up for the Couch Festival: Denise Dombrowski (vocals/guitar/violin), Mark Loughrey (banjo/bouzouki) and Noelia Sanchez (percussion).
The Perperúna Ensemble will be performing at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the Steingriff district nursing home as a garden concert. The five singers will also be on stage at the evening concert on Friday, and we will introduce them in the next issue of the Schrobenhausen Newspaper before.
For the free garden concerts, you have to reserve seats on the festival website www.couchfestival.offene-tueren.net. Only then will you find out the address of the garden or living room where the concert will take place. Donations are welcome. In the event that it is too wet and cold for the garden, the concerts will take place indoors.
