It’s a successful project. The enforced Corona break couldn’t change that. From July 11th to 15th, the Waidhofner Musik-Schmiede was the 33rd of its kind in the city and filled schools and Plenkerzentrum as well as the city with young music.
Thomas Wallner, who has been running the Musik-Schmiede with Hermann Maderthaner for years, was very satisfied at the end. “With 200 participants, we were able to join practically where the pandemic had ordered us to take a break,” he says. The MusikSchmiede, a seminar week for wind and percussion players, is organized by the Initiative for the Promotion of Cultural Activities (IFKA) in cooperation with the music school association Waidhofen/Ybbstal.
In addition to the experience of making music together, from the chamber music form to the symphonic wind orchestra, improving your skills on your own instrument is a focus of MusikSchmiede.
Concerts as highlights of the week
The young musicians were taught by 42 teachers in the instrument categories trumpet, flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, tenor horn and tuba as well as percussion.
Traditionally, the professors’ concert on Thursday, which was presented in stupendous quality, and the final concert on Friday are the highlights of the week.
Already on Friday morning, the musicians delighted with public performances in downtown Waidhofen. In glorious summer weather, the instrumental groups and their instructors showed their skills and were accordingly praised by passers-by.
