This CD was born from the need to open up a new repertoire of chamber music for flute and organ. Very few composers devoted themselves to this pair of instruments: partly because the flute for a long time was acoustically unable to compete with a large instrument, partly because the organ was seen above all as a liturgical instrument. To allow for the attractive effect of the combination of flute and organ, compositions by David Schlaffke have been specially adapted for this recording. In these transcriptions and through the different character of two historically interesting organs, the sound world of the Romantic period appears in a completely new and surprisingly original way. Featuring the Ukrainian flautist Mariya Semotyuk as a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Thuringian organist David Schlaffke, a brilliant edition of this genre is available.
