Press release from 03/12/2023
The Musikverein Harmonie eV and members of the Heimat- und Schnernernungsverein in Windhagen eV (HVV) prepared a special surprise for the newcomers last Saturday afternoon in the residential area on the Sack, in the north-west of Windhagen.
Windhagen. The aim of the initiators of the two associations was to warmly welcome the builders and the families who have already moved in to this new development area. Beforehand, under the expert guidance of Uwe Erner, a good portion of sourdough was prepared and processed into particularly successful mixed rye and wheat bread on Saturday morning in Windhagen’s “Backes”. After a short briefing for all those involved about the procedure and the respective “house messages”, these warm welcome breads were distributed to the new residents by the members of the two local associations.
A definite novelty for Windhagen. However, it was also a completely new feeling for the participating club members to go from door to door and speak personally to the families about the possible leisure activities of the two clubs. The great performance was a great help, according to the chairman of the HVV, Thomas Stumpf, who had considerable doubts the day before about being able to implement the campaign as planned. The preliminary meeting was not under a “weather-friendly star”, explained Hans-Georg Dulisch, the organizer of this joint association venture. Incredible sleet and a violent storm on the previous Friday evening meant there was no anticipation for the next day.
However, the optimists were right. It was uncomfortably cold and therefore a great technical challenge for the musicians to play the cold wind instruments, but the dry weather and sunshine were welcome helpers this afternoon. Just like the sun, the friendly and cordial reactions of the new residents or the often still working builders warm hearts and minds and very soon dispelled any remaining misgivings. Thus, the general tenor of this action was clear. A great thing.
Even if, according to the participating participants, some of the front doors opened only very cautiously at first, a friendly smile quickly spread over their faces. The joy over the beautiful music and the wonderfully fragrant bread was great. The invitation to the forthcoming spring concert on April 29 in the forum and the reference to early childhood music education at the old school in Windhagen were also gladly accepted.
For some, this Saturday visit and the traditional gesture of handing out bread when moving in was so unusual that they spontaneously wanted to pay a fee and looked for their wallets. However, the “door messengers” were able to clear up such misunderstandings quickly, with everyone involved laughing happily.
This welcome event was a particularly eventful day for little Benn, who had actually invited his friends to a birthday party that afternoon. As soon as word got around among the participants, the players and helpers gathered in front of the family house to bring the little boy a hearty birthday song.
A little frozen, but deeply satisfied, the initiators of both clubs were able to round off this successful afternoon with a “Bread Greeting” and a refreshing drink to all those involved. (PM)
