Music Bank 2023 Final Show Winner to Be Determined by Listeners and Viewers

This year, for the first time in the more than 20-year history of “Muzikalā bankas”, the final show winner is left only to the listeners and viewers during the closing ceremony. “We had a great jury, which together with the listeners of Latvijas Radio 2 helped us get to the best fifteen of this season, but everything will be in the hands of the listeners and viewers in the final show on Saturday. Voting will start with the beginning of the performances of the finalists of “Music Bank 2023″ and will end almost with the end of the final show ,” says Kaspars Mauriņš, director of Latvian Radio 2, noting that

this time you will be able to vote for the songs both by calling and sending text messages.

The call limit from one phone number per song will be three calls and three blast messages. One call is equal to one vote, but one impact text is equal to 10 votes. Viewers will be able to vote for several songs. Telephone voting will not be a premium service, while the price of a shock text message will be EUR 1.45.

Traditionally, in the first part of the final show, 15 finalists will take the stage: “Citi boys” and “Lővőlīgais tipis” with the song “Ballīte”, musician Chris Noah, performing the song “Cik tālu ľel?”, Antra Stafecka and Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis with the song “Dzīparos “, the group “Triana Park” with “I’m Waiting for Winter”, the group “Astro’n’out” who will perform the song “Longing Bells”, “Brainstorm” with the song “The Queen’s Waltz (Dame La Mano)”, Don, performing the song “Kingdom of Broken Spears”, the group “Kautkaili” with “Lauj man”, “Sudden Lights” with the song “We continue”, singer Aija Andrejeva with “Pērkons pāries”, musician Raum with the song “Plēsīgi”, Finķis and Patriša with the song “Rocket science”, Intars Busulis with “Playing on his magic flute”, the group “Bez PVN” and Diona with “Shalti”, as well as ArtifexLV, Karīna Tropa and Atis Zviedris, who will perform the song “I want to live”.

Along with the 15 finalists, the legendary group “Tranzits”, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, as well as the young and talented singer Emilija, Just, Elizabete Gaile, the group “Elpa”, Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis and other musicians will also take the stage of the final show.

As usual, the management of the final show of “Music Bank” is entrusted to a person from the music environment this year as well. This year, the talented musician and producer Helvijs Finķis, better known by his stage name Finķis, will take on the role of leader. On the other hand, the author of the scenario of the final show is the singer and director of Latvian Radio 5 Kārlis Kazāks.

The producer of the event is Latvijas Radio, the executive producer is Aigars Dinsbergs. The direction of the final show this year is also in the hands of the experienced director Zane Gargažina. On the other hand, the LTV1 live broadcast will be made by director Arvīds Babris. LTV editor – Sanita Auškāpa, project manager – Jana Priedniece, leading operator – Rihards Smelters, sound director – Uldis Salenieks.

Also this year, all finalists of “Music Bank” will receive specially designed commemorative awards. This year, as in previous years, the artist of the award is Armands Jēkabsons, who created it according to the concept of this year’s final show – “all the way to the bank”. Radio waves, a stage microphone, as well as a gold bar stored in banks can be read in the award’s stylistics.

The experts of “Music Bank 2023” this year were composer Zigmars Liepiņš, composer, pianist and arranger Kristaps Krievkalns, opera singer Raimonds Bramanis, conductor Aigars Meri, DJ, producer and Latvian Radio 5 music editor Uldis Cīrulis (DJ Monsta), trombonist and member of the Latvian Radio big band Uldis Ziediņš, singer Elza Rozentāle, conductor and singer Laura Leontjeva, music critic and journalist Uldis Rudaks, as well as musicologist and LTV Kulturas editor-in-chief Ieva Rozentāle.

About “Music Bank”

“Musical bank” is a survey organized by Latvian Radio 2, in which listeners determine the most valuable and most loved domestic songs every year. “Music Bank” is broadcast three times a week on Latvian Radio 2 – on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:05 p.m. and on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. Throughout the year, audience voting on the website www.muzikalabanka.lv determines the most valuable pop and rock songs of the week, month and year. Traditionally, the annual survey of the “Musical Bank” ends with an ambitious award ceremony, in which the authors and performers of songs whose works are most appreciated by the radio listeners and the jury take part.

This year “Music Bank” will be held for the 24th time. “Muzikālā banka 2022” won the laurels of the group “Citi zēni” with the song “Lieka stuka”. The song “Laternas” performed by the group “Sudden Lights” became the second most valuable song, while the third place was taken by “The Sound Poets” with the song “Pie jenas uņu”.
