More than 400 people participated this Sunday in the five-kilometer solidarity marathon in favor of public assistance institutions that took place on the grounds of the National University of Lomas de Zamora (UNLZ) as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the house of studies.

A warm and sunny morning accompanied athletes, teachers, non-teachers, students and university authorities gathered in front of the UNLZ sports field, who joined the activity as an “excuse to resume activity”. journalism student at the Faculty of Social Sciences, described.

Patricio Insúa, a journalist and professor at the UNLZ Faculty of Social Sciences, starred in the warm-up alongside Carlos Gats, a former Olympic sprint athlete and former athletic trainer from Las Leonas. Gats encouraged the eager crowd to start the competition and in the conditioning epilogue he remarked that “there is nothing better than feeling the energy and company of beating hearts”.

The race started at 9:20 am accompanied by music and celebratory gestures and was led by the Temperley Athletics team who also took the podium together with the running team of coach Walter Barbella.

After the second round, the heat began to be felt in the participants who were provided with bottles of cold water by the University’s organizational team. Among the participants was Clivia who raised the banner “Let’s talk about autism” throughout the race and conveyed – in words with AUNO – the importance of “raising awareness of autism, because it is a disability that cannot be seen by eye. naked”.

“I felt super accompanied, a sports teacher encouraged us to continue until the end,” continued the attorney graduate of the UNLZ School of Law, who arrived from San Francisco Solano with her nine-year-old son Ramiro.

The competition, which lasted about an hour, ended with the arrival of Enrique Sánchez and his Tóxicos Running team. Sánchez, 76 and originally from Moreno, – who has completed more than 1,400 races across the country and also in Malaga, Porto Alegre and around the world – was awarded a special mention for his performance.

The long-lived runner told AUNO that he has been doing this activity for 23 years and that he always prepares in the same way, “but when you run with friends it’s better”. Sánchez participated together with Patricia, Sandra and Gustavo – who accompanied him for three years as an athletics team – who considered the event to be a “spectacular and beautiful” experience. “I hope they keep organizing races like this,” he said.

Mid-morning ended and the awards ceremony was led by Carlos Araya, Julián Díaz and Sergio Campos. And, among the women, Aldana Romero leads the post, followed by Marina Guaragna and María Fernanda Riafrecha Villafañe.

The event, which had the support of the Sports Secretariat of the Municipality of Lomas de Zamora, collected non-perishable food to be donated to the institutions of the region.
