Music and film festivals: our 10 favorites to extend the summer

Health pass helping, many festivals were postponed in September. In music, this is the case of Printemps de Pérouges and, in cinema, of the Champs-Élysées Festival, which was to be held in June. A godsend to extend the summer a little and get a preview of the records and films that will be released at the end of the year. Follow the guides.

Music

In Pérouges, Spring is now. There is no question for this very famous Ain festival to cancel its 25th anniversary. the Spring of Pérouges is therefore held exceptionally until September 19, in the pretty park of the Château de Chazey. The program remains royal and eclectic with the Têtes Raides this Friday, the guitar-heroines Gaëlle Buswel and Laura Cox on the 18th and, in closing, the Interpreti Veneziani ensemble, which glorifies Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”.

On the 18th and 19th, we find a smile at La Villette. If you think vegan culture is cold and exclusive, you haven’t experienced the Smmmile festival. It’s the opposite with this unique and tasty mix of musical and culinary discoveries in the bucolic atmosphere of La Villette. Concerts in the hidden gardens of the park, yoga workshops, master classes with cooks… To experience with the family.

From the 24th to the 26th, we will all go to Heaven. The Paris Paradis festival, created by Le Parisien, programmed by its culture department, continues to grow. For its third edition, it will settle in Parc de la Villette for three days with no less than 70 artists. And what a poster as much in music as in humor! We invited our favorites of the year and our discoveries for the start of the school year. Several singers, such as Zaz, Sopico, Selah Sue, Sharon Corr, des Corrs, Pauline Croze and P.R2B will preview their new albums. And on the comedians side, we offer you a marathon of fun at Cabaret Sauvage with the unmissable Paul Mirabel, Thomas Wiesel, Mathieu Madénian, Amelle Chahbi, Arnaud Tsamere, Shirley Souagnon …

From 23 to 26, opulence in Talence. It is one of the most beautiful musical events in September, near Bordeaux. L’ODP Festival, solidarity event created for the benefit of orphans of firefighters, welcomes over four days eighteen artists – including Véronique Sanson, Catherine Ringer, IAM, Boulevard des Airs, Hoshi, Chef and The Gang, Philippe Etchebest’s group -, a mini children’s festival and a free “before” on the 23rd with Tryo, Hervé, Kimberose, Tibz and Noé Preszow.

From October 1 to 22, the Festi’Val de Marne is thinking big. The Festi’Val de Marne was one of the few to hold on, in a reduced formula, last year. Nevertheless, it is good to find this festival on a large scale, which spreads with each re-entry throughout the Ile-de-France region. About sixty artists will follow one another, headliners – Cali, Camélia Jordana, Gauvain Sers, Ben Mazué – and young shoots in the first part, from Terrier to Chien Noir. Nice programming for children too.

From October 5 to 10, we return to Saint-Germain. The charming city of Yvelines inaugurates a new festival. “Saint-Germain en Live” takes the best of the French song festival that it hosted every year – Daniel Auteuil, Grand Corps Malade, Gaëtan Roussel, L’Impératrice – and combines dance – Marie-Claude Pietragalla and the Théâtre du Corps -, circus and acrobatics. Eighteen shows but also performances in the streets. The whole city will vibrate.

Movie theater

Until September 21, the Champs en fête. To celebrate its ten years, the Champs-Élysées Film Festival had to shift this anniversary edition from June to September and position itself between Deauville and Valenciennes. On the menu: competitions for independent American and French films, previews in the presence of the film crews, and festive evenings on the roof top of the Drugstore Publicis with a breathtaking view of the Arc de Triomphe packed by Christo… The all open to the public.

From September 24 to 29, stars in Valenciennes. Obliged to discontinue its previous edition for health reasons in March 2020, the 2 Valenciennes Festival (Nord) has also postponed its 11th edition. Open to the public and always mixing two competitions, fiction and documentary, it displays a very attractive program in French and foreign films and announces many stars: Pierre Arditi, Xavier Beauvois, Ariane Ascaride, Marie-Josée Croze, Tony Gatlif, Alex Vizorek …

From September 29 to October 3, Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine) keeps the British accent. For this 32nd edition, Dinard, a public festival still devoted to British cinema, maintains its dates – its opening coinciding with the closing of Valenciennes -, but with a completely new formula. Six different sections are thus created, with a film in competition in each category, which will be judged by a jury chaired by the actress Bérénice Bejo.

It fires in Saint-Jean-de-Luz from October 4 to 10. The day after the closure of Dinard, the Saint-Jean-de-Luz International Film Festival (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) takes over by maintaining its dates, its openness to the public, and its guideline: it only programs in competition with filmmakers who have previously made only one or two films. Among the many feature films visible, a very nice shot: “L’Événement” by Audrey Diwan, who has just received the Golden Lion in Venice, and whose programming had been set long before the winners of the Mostra.
